Angelos Bratis is a Greek born, Milan based, designer who won the “Who is on next” talent contest in 2011. Recently, his ss15 show was presented at the prestigious Teatro Armani venue as part of Milan Fashion Week.
Bratis’s designs are sleek, elegant and remind us of scarves floating in the wind, far away Greek islands and an endless summer. We caught up with Angelos in Athens, a day before he flew back to his beloved Milan.
Who are the women you admire?
I do not believe in style icons. I admire women who are fearless, free and independent, women who embrace their femininity and feel comfortable with their bodies.
How would you describe your designs?
My creations take the shape of the women who wear them, instead of imposing a given shape. I love clothes that change shapes when a woman moves, walks or dances. My designs are light and fluid. They can be folded up like scarves and permit you to travel with the smallest suitcase.
Could you describe the ideal background for your ss15 collection?
The ideal image for my summer collection is a woman walking against the summer wind. The setting would have to be a Greek island somewhere in the Aegean.
What inspires you?
My inspiration always comes from love (or even the lack of it), femininity and elegance.
Which are your favourite spots in Milan and Athens?
My favourite spot in Milan would be the GiacomoBistrot and for a night out in Athens I would choose the very much alive city centre.
