A signature style of the 1950’s the capri pants have been a symbol of modernity and emancipation. They were introduced by the Prussian designer Sonja de Lennart, who decided to cut her long trousers, as she felt that it was such a hot summer that season at Capri.
The style was an instant hit and hollywood’s most influential leading stars adored it. Audrey Hepburn made the capri pants an essential component of her style, wearing them in many of her films.
Others of course followed as the Capri trousers became a style that involved a new attitude to the self in an era when people wanted to look forward.
