That is the basic question raised by the latest Mary Katrantzou collection. The Greek born, London based, designer decided to look back to her Greek heritage for inspiration.
Inspired by her childhood and a visit to Knossos, Mary Katrantzou wished to pay tribute to the Minoan civilization and its women, who occupied some of the most dominant positions in this culture. Feminine deites, women priests or crafts women appear in her op art motives yielding a collection that is visually stunning.
One of my favorite looks, straight from the catwalk is the Hemera dress.
Hemera was the goddess of the daytime and daughter of the night.
